Removing Burned Rubber from Motorcycle Pipes

    • 1). Wipe as much of the rubber from the pipes as you can. Allow the motorcycle to run for a minute or two to warm the rubber up to make it easier to wipe off.

    • 2). Apply a small amount of chrome polish to the rubber, and rub vigorously with the rag. This might help remove remaining rubber from the pipes.

    • 3). Rub the rubber very gently with the fine steel wool if you cannot wipe the rubber off with the towel. Put a small drop of chrome polish on your steel wool, and be very gentle to avoid scratching your pipes. Wipe the area with a rag to make sure you’ve removed it all.

    • 4). Place the cardboard between your pipes and the body of your motorcycle if the rubber is being stubborn. Spray the area generously with the oven cleaner and allow it to sit for fifteen minutes. Use an oven cleaner designed for cold oven cleaning, as it is safe to use on chrome.

    • 5). Take your rag, and scrub the oven cleaner off your pipes. The cleaner should take any remaining rubber right off of your pipes.

    • 6). Wash and wax your motorcycle as soon as you’ve removed the rubber from your pipes. Washing and waxing your bike will guarantee that you remove any harmful chemicals from your motorcycle, and will give it back that beautiful showroom shine.
