- 1). Knock out the hole in the junction box where you will pass your plug-cord through. Slide the cord through and loosely affix the cord clamp around the plug cord. This will be tightened when the wiring is complete.
- 2). Connect the wires from the plug-cord to the dimmer first and then from the dimmer to the outlet. You want the power to pass through the plug cord, then the dimmer, and finally reach the outlet for the dimming feature to work. Connect the green wire to the green terminal (or ground terminal). Attach the white wire to the chrome terminal, and the black wire to the brass terminal. Use wire nuts to splice the wires between the dimmer and the outlet as necessary.
- 3). Push the dimmer switch and the outlet into the junction box. Screw them into the box. Pull the plug-cord out from the knock-out hole until you've just taken up the slack (don't pull very hard at all). Tighten the cord-clamp until it's secure. Attach the face plate to the front.
- 4). Repeat until you have your desired number of switches.
