- 1). Use Paint to create your broadcast network logo. Open Paint and set the size for your logo under "Image," then "Attributes." Logos are usually small files, so consider a dimension such as 2-inch by 2-inch. Click "Image" again, then uncheck the "Draw Opaque" option (if it's already unchecked, leave it as it is). This gives your logo a transparent background. Click the "Paintbrush" icon and choose a medium brush head, then select a color for the outline of your logo. Draw the outline. Click the "Fill" tool, which looks like a tipping paint can, then change the paint color. Click inside the outline, which fills with color you have selected. Use the "Pencil" tool and a new paint color to make additional accents to the logo.
- 2). Use Photoshop to create your logo. Open Photoshop and create a new file with your preferred logo dimensions. Set the "Mode" to "CMYK Color" and the "Contents" to "Transparent." Click the "Paintbrush" tool, select a paint color from the "Color Picker" and draw an outline of the logo. Click the "Fill" tool and a new menu will appear at the top of the screen. Pull down the "Fill" arrow and choose "Pattern." Then pull down the "Pattern" menu and select a design such as checkerboard or bubbles. This design will be the main theme of the logo. Click one, then hover your cursor on the inside of your logo. Notice the cursor change to the paint can. Click once and the logo will fill with the pattern. Move your cursor to the right of the screen to the "Layers" palette and double-click "Layer 1." On the "Layer Style" window, check the "Drop Shadow," "Outer Glow" and "Inner Glow" boxes. This gives your logo depth. It will look like it is in 3-D or floating on the page.
- 3). Use Publisher to create your logo. Open a new page in Publisher by clicking "Page Setup" and choosing "Custom" from the "Layout" scroll bar. Set your preferred dimensions and click "OK." The page automatically adjusts. If you have a graphic image or photograph to use for the logo, click "Insert," then "Picture," then "From File" and browse to your image on your computer. Double-click the image and it appears on the page. Shrink the image to the proper size and drag it into place. If you don't have an image to use, click the "Word Art" tool, which looks like a tilting "A" on the "Tools" palette on the left side of the screen. Select one of the preset logo options, such as beveled or shadow and click "OK." Type your logo text, such as the station's call letters or network initials, into the box and select a font. Click "OK" then position the logo on the page. Click a corner and drag to increase the size as required.
