Post Erbium treatment instructions:

• If possible, drink lots of water for 1-3 days before treatment.  You must drink lots of water, 12-15 12oz glasses for 10 days following your treatment.
• Cold packs may be gently applied to ease temporary discomfort 5-15 minutes every hour.
• A supplied petroleum gel based substance should be used 2 – 3 times daily in the first 12-48 hours to help protect the new skin from any potential damage caused by contact with the air.  Add 10-20% Neosporin antibiotic cream to this daily application 2 times per day.
• Use the moisturizer container of aloe moisturizer as follows: use light application on day 4, 5, and 6, using less each time.  Use most of this moisturizer in these cans.  Keep your face covered with this lotion as it contains several different moisturizing creams, vitamins A, D, C, E, antibiotic ointments, anesthetic medicine, and aloe that will help with the sunburn feeling that you will have for several days following the procedure.  Use it all within the first 3-6 days.
• Eat quality protein frequently (every 1-3 hours) for 12-14 days following the procedure to promote a speedier, more effective healing of the body.
• If crusting develops it should be allowed to fall off naturally (no picking).  A topical antibiotic such as Neosporin usually helps.
• An antibiotic medication will be given to you to prevent any infection, which is rare.  Contact the office if there is an indication of infection (redness, tenderness or pus).  Minimal tenderness and swelling of the skin is normal.
• Antibiotic and antiviral medication will be prescribed with each procedure at an added charge.
  • Antiviral –1 tablet 5 times a day for 5 days
  • Antibiotic –1 tablet 4 times a day for 5 days
• Take a multi-vitamin every 12 hours for 30 days following treatment.
• Gently wash your face at 12, 24, 36, 48, and 72 hours following treatment with 3-5 drops Baby Shampoo and lots of cool water, gently blot dry before applying creams.
• Some patients rarely develop small raised papules similar to hives for a day or two.  Benadryl tablets 25mg helps with redness and swelling for 2-3 days.  This irritation usually subsides in 24 hours.
• You will be asked to update your Tetanus shot if you have not received one in the last 5 years.  This will help with the prevention of bacteria that can penetrate your newly exposed skin that could be a target for bacteria like Tetanus.                       
• Avoid any sun exposure and apply sun block SPF-30 or greater whenever you go outside.  You may apply this under you make up for the first 30 days.

We recommend that you use a Skin Cleansing system for 1 month prior to the procedure in order to cleanse the skin and remove all excess debris.  Start using the skin restoration system 4 - 5 days after treatment is complete at the doctors discretion (never day 1 or 2).  The series contains moisturizers and facial conditioners that your new skin will need to look its very best.  You need a prescription skin cleansing system that is only available in a physician's office.  The system is a much higher quality skin care system without a prescription than anything that you may buy in a retail store.  It lasts a lot longer, and is much more effective.   Your skin will love you for it.  Everyone will obviously see the difference.
