- 1). Check the cleaner cartridge to ensure that it is installed correctly if the machine does not dispense soap or water. The device will not function without a cartridge, and the cartridge must be full of cleaner. Ensure that the instructions on the side of the cartridge are facing outward. In addition, the white lever at the base of the cartridge top must be pressed all the way down into the locked position.
- 2). Remove clogs from the steam nozzles if the machine does not dispense water or cleaner. Tilt the back of the machine down until it rests on the floor. Wipe a wet rag across the bottom of the machine to remove any dirt and debris that may be clogging the nozzles.
- 3). Examine the connections for the handheld cleaner hose if it does not function properly. Make sure that the base of the hose is securely attached to the machine and that the lock at the base of the hose is enabled. If this lock is in the open position, the handheld hose will not dispense cleaning solution.
- 4). Eliminate excessive foaming by refilling the water tank. The water tank is on the front of the device and is translucent so you can easily see the water level.
- 5). Examine the roller on the bottom of the machine if the machine will not freely move back and forth. Remove any hair or carpet fibers that are stuck in the roller. If the hair is tightly wound, you may need to use a pair of small scissors or a knife to cut it free.
- 6). Press the "Reset" button on the device if it will not turn on. If the motor starts to overheat, or if there is a spike of electricity on the building's electrical system, the machine will shut off. To restart the machine, press the reset button on the electrical cord, approximately six inches from the plug. Turn the power button back on to restart the machine.
