- 1). If your machine is leaking, make sure that your sink and standpipe are able to handle 17 gallons (64 L) of water each minute. Verify that the fill hoses are tight and that the washers on them are sealed correctly. Ensure that you have centered the washer tub before you begin a cycle and that your load is balanced, without overloading the unit. Water can be deflected off the load by the spray or fill rinse; this can cause leaking. Check that the front feet are installed correctly and all nuts are tightened.
- 2). Turn off the water to your washing machine if the machine won't run, fill, rinse or agitate. Remove the inlet hoses and look for any film or particles that may be clogging them. Remove and then reinstall the hoses. When you turn on the water again, check for leaks. If this does not help, make sure that both the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Refrain from using an extension cord. Ensure that the time knob's indicator is lined up correctly with your chosen cycle. Check to see that you have not blown a fuse or tripped a circuit.
- 3). Check to see if the drain hose is clogged if your washer won't drain or spin. Your owner's manual will have information on how to disconnect and reinstall the hose. In addition, remember that your drain hose should not be more than 96 inches above the floor. Keep the washer's lid closed during the drain and spin cycle. Your unit will not spin or agitate if you have left the lid open. Make sure you do not use too much detergent, as this can cause excessive sudsing.
- 4). Push the basket into the center of the machine before you start a wash cycle if the basket is pulling forward when in use. Remember that the wash load needs to be balanced. Never overload your machine. Check to see if your unit is level and that the front feet are installed correctly. Tighten all nuts. Don't worry if the basket moves during a cycle, as this is normal.
- 5). If the machine is making a lot of noise, make sure the yellow shipping strap, with cotter pins, was completely removed. Your owner's manual will have instructions on how to remove all shipping materials. Check that your wash load is equally balanced. Never overload your unit, and verify that the legs are level. It is normal to hear the gears engaging after the drain and spin cycles and for the agitator to make a clicking noise during the wash cycle.
