- 1). Unlatch the hood by pulling the hood latch (labeled "Hood") located on the kick panel under the dashboard on the driver's side of the Maxima.
- 2). Pull up on the hood. It will only open about one inch until the hood security latch is pressed. The security latch is located in the center of the vehicle and is accessible between the hood and the grill of the vehicle. Press the latch and lift up on the hood simultaneously. Prop the hood up using the hood prop.
- 3). Locate the top radiator hose and trace the hose from the radiator to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is inside of the thermostat housing.
- 4). Remove the two bolts that hold the housing onto the intake manifold with an adjustable wrench. Lift up on the housing to remove it from the manifold. The thermostat is now exposed.
