Animal Activist Laura Guttridge has been a long time supporter for the cause. Back in the late 1980's she began a small Animal Rights Group in Ocala Fl. The organization was called Marion County Voices for Animals, and they were successful in petitioning the local animal shelter to stop using the decompression chamber to kill unwanted animals, and switch to the more humane lethal injection.
Laura along with playmate Lauren Anderson modeled as PETA lettuce ladies, passing out veggie hot dogs, and veggie starter kits on National Hot Dog Day in Washington Dc. The event attracted national attention to the benefits of going veg.

In the year 2002 she protested against the Cruel Confinement of Pigs on factory farmsin Florida by gathering signatures for a successful ballot initiative. Laura collected over 5,000 signatures, and was a top signature gatherer. The confinement of pigs is now banned in the state of Florida.
Just like every coin has two sides, Laura Guttrigde was also in News for arrest in advent of protest held by her. She was arrested for hosting a protest against The Annual Youth Deer Hunt held at Ocala and secondly for her active participation in the anti- fur protest by San Diego Advocates.
She has strongly nurtured her love and affection for animals in a public forum and deeply manifests her inclination in drawing a large arena for this noble cause. This is evident as such incidents have not shattered her passion to the minutest level as she continues with the same level of ecstasy and inclination to make every individual understand the feeling of belongingness for animals and nature.
Laura helped raise thousands of dollars for Save the Chimps Sanctuary in Fort Pierce Fl. by co/chairing their annual fundraiser "Chimps Kitchen." Laura has co/chaired this event for 4 consecutive years. The glitzy event is held at The Vero Beach Hotel & Spa.
Save the Chimps Sanctuary provides a permanent sanctuary for chimpanzees rescued from biochemical researches,pet trade, and entertainment. The sanctuary is situated on 150 acres.
For Earth Day Laura organized a rally in Vero Beach. The rally was organized to help save one of the last remaining woodlands on theBarrier Island from a proposed destruction. The woodlands have since remained un-touched.
In 2007 Laura was given The Humanitarian of The Year Award from The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County for her dedication to the protection of animals.
