- Do not upload to or download photos from people you do not know. Never give out your address, phone number, school or other information.
- Do not respond to messages that are obscene, angry or suggestive. Use a screen name that does not personally identify you.
- Always monitor your child's Internet activities. Beware if your child is spending too much time online at night or seems to be withdrawing from other activities. If your child turns off the monitor when you enter the room, it could be a sign that he is trying to hide from you online activities.
- Communicate with your child about the dangers of online predators. Be with your child when she uses the Internet, and talk about what is happening online.
- Do not forbid your child from using the Internet, unless you find clear evidence that he is receiving communication from people you do not know. Do not allow your child to have the computer in his bedroom. Do not allow your child to receive phone calls, mail or packages from people you do not know.
