    Engine

    • Norton Commando motorcycles have a parallel-twin engine with a three-bearing crank, balancer shaft and push-rod valve actuation. This engine has two valves per cylinder. The cylinder diameter measures 3.46 inches and the stroke is 3.11 inches. The engine has an air cooling system and a crank-fired electronic ignition. Displacement for this motor is 961 cubic centimeters and the compression ratio is 10.1-to-1. The fuel tank has a capacity of 4.5 gallons.

    Tires

    • Fully inflated, the front tire of Norton Commando motorcycles are 4.72 inches wide and 3.3 inches in depth with a diameter of 17 inches. The rear tire is 7.09 inches wide and 3.9 inches in depth when inflated with a diameter of 17 inches. The front wheel has a travel of 4.53 inches while the rear wheel has a travel of 3.94 inches. Rims measure 3.5-by-17 inches for the front and 5-by-17 inches for the rear. The Norton Commando 961 Sports has chrome rims, the Cafe Racer has black rims and the 961SE has BST carbon fiber rims.

    Frame

    • All Norton Commando motorcycles have a swing arm made with twin-sided steel and a frame of steel tubing with an integral oil tank. The rake for these motorcycles is 24.5 degrees, the trail is 3.9 inches and the wheelbase is 55.9 inches. For the 961SE and Sport models, the front suspension is a 1.69-inch Ohlins RWU with compression damping and and adjustable preload. Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racers utilize a 1.69-inch Ohlins USD front suspension that also include rebound damping. The rear suspensions for these motorcycles is a Ohlins reservoir-style, twin shocks with adjustable compression, preload and ride height.

    Features

    • The Norton Commando 961SE and 961 Sport feature steering with triple-clamp lower yokes and fully-machined billet yokes. Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racers feature black anodised billet yokes for steering. The 961SE is available in black and gold colors while the Cafe Racer and Sport models are available in red and gold, black and gold, silver, red and black and yellow and black color schemes. These motorcycles feature a constant mesh, five-speed gearbox and a 525 "O"-ring chain final drive.
