- Curcuma is sensitive to both extreme cold and heat. Keep indoor curcuma plants away from heating appliances, direct sun, air conditioners and cold air drafts. Curcuma plants require soft lighting in order to grow best.
- Curcuma plants require very humid air, so it is advised to place indoor curcuma pots on top of watered pebble trays to increase humidity. Water curcuma regularly so that the soil is constantly wet but not soggy. As curcuma is sensitive to chlorine, it is recommended to use rainwater instead of tap water for indoor plants.
- Curcuma plants need a high level of nutrients to grow. Curcumas should be planted in well-drained soil that is rich in organic material. For indoor plants, apply diluted orchid or houseplant fertilizer every two to three weeks.
