Newest Disney Princess
Move over Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, the newest Disney princess, Tiana, is coming on December 11, 2009. Tiana stars in the Disney movie is a re-telling of the Grimm fairy tale. Disney set the movie in New Orleans as a good will gesture after Hurricane Katrina. Tiana, who lives in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans during the Jazz age of the 1920s, dreams of becoming a Restaurateur.
In the process she meets up with Prince Naveen or a transformed amphibian. But, you know the story, it ends happily.
Dreams Come True Exhibit
Disney went beyond setting the film in New Orleans, they have also graciously lent the New Orleans Museum of Art an extensive collection of drawings, background paintings and animation cells from all of the Disney princess movies. You'll see original artwork from legendary Disney animated Disney princess films. There's a special children's section that celebrates the Jazz connections between Disney and New Orleans. The artworks, on loan from the Walt Disney Studio Animation Research Library, will be accompanied by film clips to demonstrate how individual sketches and paintings lead to a finished celluloid masterpiece. Organized by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library and the New Orleans Museum of Art, this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition cannot be seen anywhere else in North America. It is a must see for all fans of Disney animation or Disney princesses.
The exhibit, "Dreams Come True," runs from November 15, 2009 through March 14, 2010 at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
