- 1). Look at your rearview mirror and determine how it is held on the vehicle. Most rearview mirrors are snapped or glued into a button on the windshield, but the mirrors in some older vehicles are glued straight onto the windshield.
- 2). Gently slide the blade of your razor knife behind the part of your mirror that is glued to the glass and pry the mirror away from the glass. If the mirror does not want to budge, use the hair dryer to heat up the glue that is holding the mirror and try again. Heat should loosen the glue.
- 3). Use a crescent wrench if the mirror still will not budge. "Popular Mechanics" advises taking a crescent wrench and fitting it around the base of the mirror and gently unscrewing the mirror from the glass. The pressure of turning the button will pop the mirror loose.
