- 1). Click on the "Start" button to begin making the changes to your modem configuration. Select "Control Panel" and double-click on the icon labeled "System." Click on the tab labeled "Device Manager," allowing a list of devices to populate.
- 2). Select the entry labeled "Port," which is found on the left window pane. Double-click on the modem's port, which is commonly named "COM2." Select the "Port Settings" tab and click on the "128000" entry found in the drop-down menu. This increases the bandwidth limit that your modem is set to handle, which leads to increased ISP speed.
- 3). Click on the entry named "Flow Control" and click the selection labeled "Hardware." Click "OK" to save your modem's changes.
