- 1). Check to make sure the electrical cord is firmly plugged into the Kenmore washing machine as well as a grounded three-prong outlet if the washer won't run. Reset the fuse or circuit breaker if necessary.
- 2). Shut the washer door firmly and press the desired wash cycle or turn the control knob to point at the desired wash cycle if the washer has electricity but is not starting. Press "Start" or pull the control knob out firmly to begin the wash cycle. The door/lid must be closed completely and "Start" must be activated before the washing machine will operate.
- 3). Use only the recommended amount of laundry detergent. Energy efficient models should use high-efficiency (HE) degtergent. If excess suds are left in the tub, start a new rinse and drain cycle to remove the suds and rinse the items inside the washer.
- 4). Adjust the level of the washer if necessary. Tighten or loosen the feet so that all four legs touch the floor. If the floor is not capable of supporting the weight of the washer, put a piece of three-quarter-inch plywood under the washer for additional support.
- 5). Open the washer and reduce the load size if the washer is thumping, leaking or not all the water is draining. Moderate load sizes are best.
- 6). Clean out the inlet screens on the water hoses if the water is filling slowly or not at all. Open both water valves completely and use a water pressure gauge to verify that the household water pressure is at least 120 PSI (pounds per square inch). A water pressure gauge can be purchased at most hardware stores.
- 7). Clean out the drain hose and lower the drain hose to less than 96 inches above ground if water is not draining out of the washing machine. Clean drains throughout the home, as the washing machine can be affected by other drain problems.
- 8). Select "Pause/Cancel" twice if an error code occurs. Turn off the washing machine, wait 30 seconds, and then restore power. Select a new cycle and select "Start." If the error code comes back, turn off the washing machine and contact Kenmore for assistance.
