- 1). Examine your cylinder once you purchase or rent it. Make sure there are no dents, rust or damage around the surface of the cylinder and check that the valve is secure.
- 2). Store the bottle in a cool and dry place. A garage or storage shed can be an appropriate storage facility as long as there is no excess moisture in the area.
- 3). Store the bottle in an area where there is no direct sunlight in contact with the bottles. Also, make sure the bottles are never in an area that reaches above 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 4). Place the refrigerant bottle upright in a vertical position so that the valve is at the top of the bottle. Store the bottle where it can't be accidentally knocked over.
- 5). Remove any flammable materials and chemicals near the refrigerant bottles. Keep any gasoline cans or propane tanks at least 20 feet or more from the bottles.
