- 1). Hold two standard 8.5-inch-by-11-inch pieces of paper horizontally. Ensure that the edges are flush. Tape the 8.5-inch sides together to create one 8.5-inch-by-22-inch piece of paper.
- 2). Wrap the paper around the dryer vent tube. Ensure that the paper's edges are flush when the two ends of the paper touch or wrap around one another.
- 3). Secure the top and bottom of the paper to the dryer vent tube using tape. Tape both ends securely while ensuring that the top and bottom edges remain flush.
- 4). Put on leather gloves and poke a hole in the tube approximately 2 inches above the paper with one prong of the tin snips. Ensure that the hole is large enough that you can fit the entire prong into the inside of the dryer vent tube.
- 5). Cut the tube with the tin snips. Start with a downward motion, operating the tin snips exactly how you operate a pair of scissors. Cut toward the paper but do not cut into the paper.
- 6). Cut around the top edge of the paper using tin snips. You will cut into the tape while working your way around the paper. Avoid cutting into the paper, because it serves as your straight edge for cutting.
