The 1973 Super Jeep was a limited model Civilian Jeep. The Civilian Jeep was modeled after 1940s military Jeeps. The Super Jeep is a rare vehicle that had low production numbers. There was no designation on the VIN for the Super Jeeps, which makes these models difficult to identify. The Super Jeep was a trim options package with body stripe kits, chrome accessories and distinctive interior trim.

Engine Specifications

Two engine options were available in the 1973 Super Jeep model. One was a 304-cubic-inch, V8 engine capable of producing 125 horsepower at 3,200 rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque at 2,400 rpm. The other engine was a 258-cubic-inch, inline six-cylinder engine that could produce 112 horsepower at 3,200 rpm and torque of 210 pound-feet at 2,000 rpm. The only transmission available was a four-speed manual.

The exterior of the 1973 Super Jeep included a chrome front bumper, black rubber wheel lip extensions and a body stripe kit. These vehicles had L78x15 white sidewall polyglas tires mounted on 8-inch steel wheels. Striping decals on the exterior paint made the 1973 Super Jeep stand out. Exterior colors included jetset blue with red and blue stripes, champagne white with red and blue stripes, daisy yellow with butterscotch and white stripes, copper tan with orange and white stripes and fairway green with orange and white stripes.

The 1973 Super Jeep had two-tone seats to coordinate with the exterior paint color. The sun visors matched the seat colors and were trimmed in white. The Jeep's instrument panel was trimmed in white. Safety features included a chrome safety roll bar. An optional tachometer/clock gauge was available with this model.
