How to Install a Pond Filter & Pump

    • 1). Construct a conduit to place around the edging of the pond--a reinforced hose works well. Bury the hose underground with a shovel, so it runs from the pond to the electrical connection. Thread garden wire through the hose.

    • 2). Cut a 12 mm, or 1/2 inch, section from the pump hose tail. Screw the pump hose tail into the pump. Connect the hose with a hose-clip.

    • 3). Situate the pump in the bottom of the pond, opposite the pond from the filter. Attach and tape the pump's cable to the conduit's garden wire and push it through the conduit.

    • 4). Set up the pump filter, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Connect the pump tubing to the filter's inlet with a hose clip; the clip should be located on the left side of the hose tail.

    • 5). Attach a suitable plug to the pump cable. Connect the power to a separate breaker, through an RCCD trip switch.
