- 1). Turn off the power to the pool pump. This can be done by turning off the circuit breaker at the home's electrical panel.
- 2). Open the access panel for the pool pump if it is in an enclosure.
- 3). Locate the water lines that connect to the pump. Remove the water lines by first loosening the fittings with an adjustable wrench. Turn the wrench to the left and then remove the fitting by hand.
- 4). Disconnect the electrical cable from the pool pump. You can then remove the old pool pump and set is aside.
- 5). Set the new Pentair pool pump in the same location as the old pool pump.
- 6). Apply pipe sealant to the threads on the plastic nipple at the end of the return water line.
- 7). Connect the plastic nipple to the intake port on the pump. Tighten the water line with the adjustable wrench.
- 8). Apply PVC pipe cement to the fitting for the water lines and connect them to the pool pump. Connect the joints for the water lines by sliding them together and twisting them slightly.
- 9). Cut the filter line that was connected to the old filter with the PCV cutters. Place the PVC cutter over the filter line and turn the cutter using a ratcheting action until the line has been cut.
- 10
Apply the PVC glue to the end of the cut filter line and attach a new section of pipe. One end of the pipe connects to the filter line and the other to the pool pump. - 11
Connect the electrical cable to the new pump. - 12
Turn on the circuit at the circuit breaker panel to complete the project.
