- 1). Log on to your computer.
- 2). Navigate to your taskbar. By default, the taskbar is located on the bottom of your screen, by the Windows Start button; however, you can move it to the top, right or left of your screen.
- 3). Locate the Automatic Updates icon. This rectangular icon is pale blue and white. If you place your cursor over the icon, a label identifying the icon as "Automatic Updates" will appear.
- 4). Right-click on the Automatic Updates icon.
- 5). Click on the "Unpin this program from the Taskbar" option from the menu that appears when you right-click on the icon.
