Because I've been studying the law of attraction for many years, people will often ask me "is the law of attraction for Christians?" Or "is the law of attraction in conflict with Christianity or the Bible?" These are really good questions, and actually, there's a great deal of information in the Bible to answer them.
Particularly in the New Testament, there are many, many references to the power of faith and belief.
Jesus told us that we could do "greater works" then He if only we had a strong faith.
The fact is, the law of attraction is all about faith, and being devout in our beliefs no matter what.
Christians usually take to this philosophy quite naturally, as it is such an integral part of their Christian faith already.
So in this sense, the law of attraction is a perfect fit for Christians.
But there are a few other aspects of the philosophy that sometimes raise concerns...
For example, one of the most common teachings of the law of attraction is that "like attracts like.
" But what does the Christian Bible say -- if anything -- about this concept? Actually, neither the New Testament nor the Old Testament has much to say on this subject; so there is virtually no scriptural confirmation one way or the other.
Is up to each individual to decide for themselves if the concept of "like attracts like" is in keeping with Christian teachings; but there is no indication that it conflicts with any scripture or recognized Christian theology.
But many other aspects of the law of attraction are supported throughout the Bible.
A good example of this is the idea that our thoughts are powerful, and by maintaining a grateful heart and focusing on the best in life, we will GET more of the best in life.
There are numerous quotes from the Bible that say essentially the same thing.
Modern Christians have shown a great deal of support for preachers such as Joel Osteen, who teaches a positivist and practical approach to Christianity that is highly reminiscent of the law of attraction.
Osteen talks about the importance of maintaining a positive state of mind, and expecting the best life has to offer -- and understanding that we deserve it.
In fact, the Bible states many times (and in many different ways) that God wants only the best for His children.
Prosperity, abundance and peace are the birthright of every Christian.
In this sense the law of attraction is perfect for Christians, because it begins from the point of view that all of us are worthy of the best in life, and we should not make ourselves content with less.
So for Christians, the law of attraction can be a wonderful and useful tool -- it is a resource to strengthen their faith, not detract from it.
Maintaining a positive state of mind and expecting good things from life are central to the philosophy of the law of attraction -- and also central to any strong Christian faith.
