- 1). Unplug the dishwasher. If you can't reach the plug, or it is hard-wired, turn off the electricity to the circuit where the dishwasher is installed. Go to the main switch for the house. There should be a circuit map inside that tells you what is on each circuit. Turn off the circuit by flipping the switch to the "off" position.
- 2). Open the dishwasher door. Look at the top of the dishwasher. You should see two brackets connecting the dishwasher to the underside of the counter. Unscrew these with the screwdriver.
- 3). Remove the toe kick from the dishwasher. This is the small metal border that sits between the floor and the bottom panel. Unscrew the two screws holding it in place and set aside. Also remove the lower front panel if it is present.
- 4). Pull the dishwasher out of its opening gently. Be careful not to pull it out too far, because it is still connected to the drain hose, water hose and electrical wires. You only need to pull it out far enough to be able to reach to the hinges on the side, about 6 inches.
- 5). Lift the door up and place it on the dishwasher so that the bottom of the door aligns with the bottom of the dishwasher. There may also be two guides on each side of the dishwasher door that fit into slots on the dishwasher body. Align these before placing the door on the dishwasher. Secure the hinge plate with the screws--one side to the dishwasher, the other side to the dishwasher door. It won't stay closed on its own yet, so support it from beneath.
- 6). Attach the door springs. Look on one side of the dishwasher door for the door spring hole. Connect the other end of the spring to the spring hole on the body. It will be easier if you shut the door. Pliers make it easier as well to pull the spring back to the needed position.
- 7). Close the dishwasher door and open it again to ensure proper operation.
