- 1). Use colored 5 by 7 inch cardstock as the base of your announcement. The card should be a solid color that complements the theme or design you have planned. For example, light pink would work with a spring floral pattern for a baby girl.
- 2). Trim a piece of patterned paper, such as scrapbook paper, to fit on the cardstock. Only the edges of the cardstock should peek through. Use craft scissors to create decorative edges, if you desire.
- 3). Glue the embellishment paper onto the center of the cardstock. Use a glue stick to avoid a mess or too much glue.
- 4). Trim colored paper into two squares, measuring 2 inches by 2 inches. Center the pictures onto the colored papers, which serve as mats, and glue them in place.
- 5). Write the announcement information if you have nice penmanship. Otherwise, consider printing the information in a decorative font onto plain white or light colored paper. The paper should measure 3 by 5 inches. If you are using a computer, you can print out four announcements at a time by copying the information into all four corners of the page. Print the information out, then cut it to size.
The announcement should include the baby's full name, birth date and time, weight and length and any other special information you wish to include. - 6). Lay the announcement in front of you in a horizontal, or landscape, fashion. Place the matted pictures in a vertical row along the left side and the text paper on the right side of the announcement. Arrange the three pieces until you're satisfied.
- 7). Glue the pictures and text in place.
