- Teens enjoy being silly and staying up all night at sleepovers.teens_glasses image by Andrey Kiselev from Fotolia.com
You don't need a special occasion to have a sleepover. If your teenage son or daughter wants to have a sleepover, make sure to have several ideas in mind to make the event enjoyable and memorable. Arrange an assortment of movies, snacks and activities to prevent boredom at your teen's next slumber party. - Create invitations for the sleepover that look like a bed with a pillow. Write the invitation details on a piece of paper along with the words, "What has several legs, laughs and sleeps all night? Answer: My sleepover party and you are invited." Hand deliver the invitations at least two weeks before the party.
- Rent several comedy and scary movies for the party guests. Create a movie watching area with a large room and TV. Fill the room with blankets, sleeping bags and pillows. The guests will have a comfortable place to sit back, talk and relax, as well as watch some movies. If there are windows in the "movie room," put black butcher paper over the windows to make the room darker (like a movie theater).
- Let the teenagers make a pillowcase to remember the party and take home as a party favor. Give each teen a white or light-colored pillowcase and several permanent markers. Use permanent markers if the teens want to use the pillowcases that night, as these will dry faster than fabric or glitter markers. Teens can decorate their own pillowcase, as well as sign other party guests' pillowcases. If you want to make this a contest, award prizes to the most creative, funniest and scariest pillowcases.
- Besides the late night popcorn, pretzels and candy, let the teens prepare their own dinner. Purchase pizza crust and let each teen make a personal pan pizza. Place several bowls on the table with pizza sauce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, cheese, olives, mushrooms and pineapples. The guests also can create their own ice cream sundaes for dessert. Bring out the ice cream and several bowls of toppings, such as cherries, nuts, chocolate candies and syrups.
