- 1). Use a utility knife to score both sides of the damaged section from top to bottom. Leave the nailing strips in place.
- 2). Wiggle the damaged piece with pliers until it comes free.
- 3). Cut just the nailing strips off of the replacement section.
- 4). Run a bead of silicone caulk along the flanges (these are the pieces you cut the nailing strips off of).
- 5). Hold the new piece up to the existing nailing strips and press it into place. The caulk should hold it temporarily.
- 6). Fasten the replacement permanently by using blind rivets. A long-nose riveter is best for this.
