- 1). Meditate regularly to experience serenity by releasing the chatter that floods most people's minds during their waking -- and sleeping -- hours. Simplify your life by recycling, selling or donating things you do not use, need or which are not important to you.
- 2). Explore the mystical element of the religious or spiritual tradition to which you are drawn. Attend meetings, worship services and discussions. Engage yourself in the tradition with like-minded people with whom you can experience the nuanced points of the teachings. Visit, for example, a Zen Buddhist meditation group, or join a contemplative prayer group.
- 3). Practice compassion. Volunteer to help disenfranchised people or to help preserve endangered species. Give your time and energy to family and friends in need of support.
