How to Get Your Computer to Search for Wireless Networks

Windows XP

1). Open the Control Panel. It will be found under the "Start" menu at the bottom of the screen.
2). Click the "Network and Internet Connections" option.
3). Click the "Network Connections" option.
4). Right-click on the "Wireless Network Connection" option.
5). Choose "View Available Wireless Networks" from the list that appears. A dialog box with the results from a scan of the wireless networks available appears.
6). If the scan doesn't find the network you seek, click on the "Refresh" button at the bottom of the window and the computer will perform another search.

3). Click on the "Network and Internet" category on the right side of the screen.
4). Click on the "View Network Status and Tasks" option.
5). Click on "Manage Network Connections" on the left side of the screen.
6). Right-click on the "Wireless Network Connection" option.
7). Choose "Connect/Disconnect" from the list of options that appears. The computer will scan for wireless networks in the area.
8). If the scan doesn't find the network you seek, click the "Refresh" button at the top of the screen and the computer will search again.
