- 1). Insert the end of the lift rod into the hole in the faucet. Allow the lift rod's handle to rest on the top of the faucet assembly.
- 2). Slide the plastic retaining nut over the long end of the pivot rod piece, pointing the nut's threads at the ball on the other end of the rod. Drop the sink's stopper into the drain opening, making sure the hole in the bottom of the stopper faces the hole on the side of the drainpipe.
- 3). Insert the shorter end of the pivot rod into the opening in the drainpipe. Squeeze the ball into the opening in the pipe, then turn the retaining nut clockwise to tighten it on the threads on the pipe's opening.
- 4). Insert the free end of the pivot rod through the opening in the spring clip and one of the holes in the clevis strap. Insert the end of the lift rod into the two holes in the "C" shaped portion of the clevis strap, then tighten the screw in the "C" shape to hold the lift rod in place.
