Type 2 Diabetes - Do You Love Food More Than Yourself?

There seems to be lots of talk about needing vitamin C to prevent scurvy, vitamin D to help prevent rickets - but no talk of the vital vitamin L.
Vitamin L simply stands for vitamin Love, as without love and care for ourselves so much goes wrong with our health.
Love Yourself, Not Your Food.
For many, living with Type 2 diabetes is a real challenge and perhaps the hardest part of this challenge is coping mentally with how it can make you feel so different to the rest of the world, and so alone as a result.
This may be why rates of depression amongst those living with the chronic health condition are extremely high.
As a result of this depression many Type 2 diabetes sufferers have been choosing to use food as a way to cope with these unresolved emotions.
For some the depression and unresolved emotions were what triggered an unhealthy relationship with food and diabetes in the first place.
How to Increase Your Stores of Vitamin L.
It may sound a little out there for some but, in reality, none of us are capable of living a meaningful and healthy life without loving ourselves first and foremost.
If we do not love ourselves then we cannot truly give love to others or take proper care of ourselves...
  • for instance eating the whole box of chocolates can never mend the relationship that just ended.
  • eating three packets of crisps in a row won't stop the pain you feel from being abused.
  • living on takeaway food full of processed carbs and salt you know will cause your blood sugar to rise dangerously high won't bring back the person who just passed away.
All of the above example scenarios of why some people choose to overeat or choose to eat unhealthy food are very serious, but cannot be dealt with and resolved through eating.
Change the Pattern of Coping Before its Too Late.
Talk about your emotions with a friend, a family member you can confide in or a counselor.
But don't abuse your health and continue trying to hide your pain with food.
At the end of the day your Type 2 diabetes will only get worse if you continue in this way, and so will your mental health.
Food can never replace the love you need to feel for yourself.
But when it comes to eating, ensure you are choosing healthy food made with care and love in the first place, and that will nourish your body and help your blood sugar remain stable.
