- 1). Raise up the front of the vehicle using the jack and set it on the jack stands. Make sure that the vehicle is solidly on the stands before crawling underneath it.
- 2). Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate the power steering line that you need to replace. It will be connected to the power steering rack via a line. Set a drain pan underneath the line. Use a line wrench to crack the line, allowing some of the pressure to drain out the oil from the line. Once the flow has subsided, remove the fitting from the rack entirely using the line wrench.
- 3). Follow the line to the other mounting point, then disconnect it from the power steering pump using a line wrench. Pull the line completely from the vehicle. Place the replacement power steering line in place of the stock model, then tighten it in place using the line wrench.
- 4). Open the power steering pump cap and fill the tank with power steering fluid. Start the vehicle and turn the steering wheel lock to lock 10 times. Check the fill level in the power steering fluid reservoir and top off if necessary. Turn the wheel another 10 times to bleed out any remaining air in the lines.
- 5). Lower the vehicle off of the jack stands using the jack and set it on the ground.
