- 1). Pull the dryer away from the wall so that the rear panel is accessible. Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet.
- 2). Remove the rear panel by removing the screws securing the panel to the rear of the dryer.
- 3). Locate the operating thermostat between the dryer exhaust and the left vertical duct.
- 4). Pull one of the red wires off of the operating thermostat.
- 5). Set your multimeter to measure the level of Ohms of resistance and calibrate the multimeter to ensure accuracy. For setting and calibration information, refer to the meter's owner's manual.
- 6). Touch one of the terminals with one of the multimeter probes. Touch the other terminal with the other multimeter probe. If the meter does not move, or indicates an infinite number of Ohms of resistance, the thermostat must be replaced. If the meter does move, the thermostat is properly functioning.
