Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Loosen the screws of the replacement plug with the screwdriver and open the plug to reveal the screw terminals inside. If the back section of the plug comes apart from the rest of the adapter, be sure to slide it onto the wire before connecting the wires.
2
Cut the cable to remove any damaged sections. Cut one inch of the outer sheath of the cable with the utility knife by sliding it along the length of the cable to remove the excess sheath. There are now three exposed wires.
3
Strip the last 1/2-inch of the three wires with the wire strippers. If you are unsure of the gauge of the wires, start with a larger setting the use smaller settings until the insulation is completely removed.
4
Curl the exposed white wire around the screw on the silver terminal of the plug and tighten the screw.
5
Curl the exposed black wire around the screw on the gold or brass terminal and tighten the screw.
6
Curl the exposed green wire around the screw on the green terminal and tighten the screw. Check that all three wires are securely attached.
7
Close the clamp mechanism of the plug adapter and tighten the screws securely.
