Fruits For Diabetics - Should a Diabetic Consume Fruits?

A very big misconception in human begins is "Should a Diabetic consume fruits?" The answer is yes, they should! The assumption that fruit would be harmful for diabetics comes as people think there is lot of sugar in fruits.
It would increase our sugar level.
But it's not completely true.
Insulin level in body does matter.
Insulin breaks into sugars and carbohydrates, but some food items consume more insulin to breakdown.
Many diabetics cannot produce high amount of insulin to breakdown carbohydrates or sugars.
Hence, they take insulin separately to maintain their sugar level which is also known as glycemic index.
But, not to worry, most of the fruits have low to medium glycemic index.
Which simply means a diabetic can consume any fruit easily! A Diabetic person should eat food which is rich in cholesterol and fats.
And fruit is the right snacks for them.
Fruit is a rich source of vitamin, mineral, fiber etc.
Of course, there are some fruits which a diabetic should avoid like mango, custard apple, grapes and bananas as they have a large amount of sugar which may be dangerous.
Diabetics can eat fresh fruits though they contain starch and sugar.
Technically speaking, most fresh fruits are full of water.
There is some amount of sugar in present in the fruit which contains glucose and fructose.
In the body of diabetic fructose dos not make any difference as it does not require insulin for metabolism.
Fruits have natural fiber, vitamins, and other essential nutrients that diabetics needs to keep body healthy.
And, all know "Health is Wealth!" A diabetic can consume at most 2 fruits a day, only one if it's very large.
Lime or Oranges are very good for diabetics.
Even Grapefruit, Olives and Apple are pretty good.
But, one should strictly avoid eating dry fruits as they increase the sugar amount drastically.
Canned fruits also have high sugar amounts.
So, be safe and eat only fresh fruits.
