- 1). Open the hood of the truck and locate the battery.
- 2). Remove the black plastic cover from the negative battery output. Pull up on the thin lip on the front of the cover. Using a box wrench, loosen the nut on the clamp. Pull the negative cable off of the battery.
- 3). Remove the red cover from the positive battery output the same way that you removed the black cover from the negative battery cable. Using a box wrench, loosen the nut on the clamp and pull the positive battery cable off of the output.
