- 1). Turn off the water at the home main water shut-off valve. Mark the CPVC pipe three inches on each side of the cracked area. Place a tube cutter around the pipe, positioned at one of the marks. Squeeze the cutter handles together to make a clean, straight cut through the pipe. Do the same at the other mark.
- 2). Measure between the two existing pipe cuts. Cut a new section of CPVC pipe to this length. Apply PVC primer around both outside ends of the new section of pipe, as well as the outside ends of the existing pipes. Then prime the insides of two 180-degree (straight) CPVC couplings.
- 3). Apply PVC cement to all primed areas. Push one coupling onto the end of each existing pipe, and the new pipe section into the remaining ends of the couplings. Hold the couplings and new pipe in place for five seconds while the cement congeals and dries. Turn the water back on at the main shut-off valve.
