- 1). Launch the System Properties dialog box by clicking the Windows "Start" menu, right-clicking "My Computer" and clicking "Properties."
- 2). Click the "System Restore" tab and click the "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box. Click "Apply," click "Yes" and then click "OK" to save the changes. This disables System Restore.
- 3). Go to the Symantec page linked in Resources and click the "Download Removal Tool" link to access the W32.Gaobot Removal Tool. When prompted, click "Save" and save the removal tool to your desktop.
- 4). Close all running programs and disconnect your network connection.
- 5). Double-click the "W32.Gaobot Removal Tool" and click "Start." The removal process will begin. The removal tool erases W32.Gaobot and associate files automatically.
- 6). Restart your computer when the removal process completes. Run the removal tool again to ensure your computer is free from W32.Gaobot.
- 7). Re-enable System Restore from the System Properties dialog box and restart your computer again.
