  Oxford, Ohio is a typical Midwestern college town. According to the City of Oxford, the city takes up just over six miles of land and has a population of 22,000. The reason for this drastic population in such a small area is because Miami University is situated in the heart of the town and most of the city's population is college students. With such a predominant college population, the city's main street, High Street is littered with bars, dance clubs and restaurants, and many combined restaurant bars exist in Oxford.
  
  

Mac & Joe's

• The oldest restaurant and bar in Oxford, Mac and Joe's was established in 1946. Since that time it has evolved to become a tradition in Oxford. Offering patrons booze, food and sports it is the must have sports bar in town. Their menu consists of sandwiches, their famous steak burgers, wings, soups, chili, salads and the typical bar grub appetizers. Happy hour is daily from 4 to 9 p.m. which features cheap beer and well drinks. Monday is wings night and Friday night's happy hour features pitcher deals too. Billed as a sports bar, catch all the big and small games at Mac and Joe's. If sports aren't your thing, Mondays are open mic night.

Smokin' Ox

• The Smokin' Ox serves up barbeque every day of the week for lunch and dinner. Only open until 10 PM during the week and 11 p.m. on weekends, the Smokin' Ox is a good choice for dinner and a few drinks to get your night on the town started right. They have a full menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and dinner platters along with cold alcoholic beverages. Steinkeller

• Steinkeller, meaning "Stone Cellar" in German, is a traditional German bar and restaurant in the heart of Oxford. It serves up over 15 cold German beers every day of the week until 2:30 a.m. If you're hungry, select from their extensive menu including appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, entrees and desserts. Most food choices are traditional German cuisine such as bratwursts, German potato pancakes, Reuben's and goulash. As far as entertainment goes, Steinkeller occasionally books local bands.
