- 1). Lay a 10-foot, 2" by 10" board on the ground in front of the exterior wall. This is the inside sill for the scaffold.
- 2). Set two, 2" by 10" boards for the inside uprights on each end of the 2" by 10" board. Verify that the 2" by 10" boards are plumb against the wall by using the level. Drive two nails into the bottom of each 2" by 4" board and into the 2" by 10" board with the nail gun.
- 3). Place an L-bracket against one 2" by 10" inch board and the exterior wall. Secure the L-bracket with screws using the power drill. Repeat this step on the other 2" by 10" inch board.
- 4). Measure each 2" by 4" board from the ground 4 feet up with the tape measure. Make a mark on the 2" by 4" boards with the pencil.
- 5). Place a 1" by 6" board on the pencil marks made in step 4. Drive two nails into the 1" by 6" board and the 2" by 4" boards.
- 6). Place two 2" by 4" boards at an equal distance in-between the outside uprights. Secure the boards with the nail gun to the 2" by 10" board and the 1" by 6" board.
- 7). Build a second sill on the ground that matches the dimension of the first sill. Set the second sill upright and two feet away from the first sill.
- 8). Place a ledger board against the inside edge of the uprights on each end of the scaffold. These need to rest on the 1" by 6" boards. Secure the ledger boards to the uprights with the nail gun.
- 9). Place two more ledger boards on the 1" by 6" boards against the inside uprights and secure them with the nail gun.
- 10
Lay four 2" by 6" boards on top of the ledger boards for the floor of the scaffold.
