Unplug the dryer from the outlet. Grab the handle on the dryer and pull the door open. Find the screws holding the door to the dryer and unscrew each one. Set the screws in a safe place and carefully remove the door from the dryer.

Examine the inside of the dryer, looking for any items trapped to the drum. Any type of fabric stuck to the drum might cause a scraping sound. Melted rubber, latex or another material can also wrap around the drum, making the noise. Remove any items you see.

Find two screws pointing towards the front of the dryer and remove the screws. Pull the back of the dryer towards you. If the piece does not come loose, look for any additional screws and remove those before peeling off the back.

Cut through the belt on the dryer drum with a utility knife. Peel the old belt off and discard. Slide a new drum belt over the dryer drum and across the motor shaft. Turn the pulley wheel in a counterclockwise direction.

Twist the drum clockwise, watching the belt. As you turn the drum, the belt wraps around and ensures a proper fit. Replace the original components on the dryer, using the original screws. Plug the dryer back into the outlet and turn on. Replacing the drum belt should stop the scraping sounds.
