- 1). Cut a 4-inch strip of heavyweight paper and wrap it around your head just above your ears. Carefully staple the ends together. It should fit snugly, but still be easy to take on and off your head.
- 2). Roll a larger piece of heavyweight paper into a cone shape. Staple it to the back of the paper band where you stapled its ends together.
- 3). Staple another piece of heavyweight paper to the front of the band so the two pieces of paper form a complete cylinder with a wider top than base. Attach the front piece of paper a little higher up on the band, if possible. This will help create the slanted look of Nefertiti's crown. Staple the two pieces together.
- 4). Flip the paper crown upside down on another sheet of heavyweight paper and trace the top of the crown. Cut the tracing out and tape it to the top of the crown. Fill in any gaps with tape or more paper. Don't worry if it looks messy because you'll be covering it with paper mache.
- 5). Mix 1/2 cup water with 1/2 cup white glue in a medium-sized bowl until it forms a paste.
- 6). Cut strips of newspaper and coat them in the paper mache paste. Place them over the paper crown until it's completely covered. Cover it in a few layers of newspaper for strength.
- 7). Paint the crown, after it has completely dried, to look like Nefertiti's crown. Look at pictures of the bust for guidance. Paint the band of the crown gold and the top dark blue with red and gold accents.
