- 1). Contact the manufacturer of your gutters to find out what kind of gutter glue will work with them. If you don't know the name of the manufacturer, contact a local gutter installer. Tell him what material your gutters are made of and ask him what type of glue you need.
- 2). Clean the area of the gutter that you need to repair. Use soap, water and a scrubber. Give the gutter time to dry completely.
- 3). Apply the glue to the leaking seam. Check the weather and wait for a dry day to do this. The glue will need several hours to set up, and it is best if it doesn't get wet during this time. Squeeze a bead of the glue on the inside of the gutter at the leaking seam. Make the bead thick and larger than the seam crack. The glue will shrink as it dries, and this will ensure that it covers the seam even after it has dried.
- 4). Work it into the seam by using a finger to smear it.
- 5). Wait for the seal to dry. Read the label of the tube of glue or seal to see how much time it will take. Some are fairly quick while others might take an hour or more. Once the seal is dry, pour water in the gutter to test the leaky area. Reapply if part of the leak continues.
