In this day in age, chances are if you marry you will end up divorced. Most people have valid reasons to go through divorce and some couples choose to work out their differences. On certain occasions, a divorce is the best option to take and in some eyes going through a divorce is often a common and fulfilling life experience. In order for us to understand why most marriages end in divorce we have to look at a few factors that undoubtedly influence the decision.
The love is gone - The thrill and excitement of being in love doesn't exist in the relationship. The reason you went through the
process of marriage disappeared. While some couples can remain together while not being in love for various reason (kids, money, etc.), most couples need love to make it work.
Forms of Abuse - Every person has his or her breaking point and that point varies from person to person. Regardless of the type of abuse, divorce is the right answer. Life is too short to be a voluntary victim of abuse.
Not telling the truth - Total disregard for the other person's feelings for personal satisfaction. Basically this reason for divorce boils down to selfishness and lack of commitment. Some couples can survive the lying and cheating most couples go their separate ways.
Personal Changes - You may still be in love but one or both of you changed. Maybe its cetain personal views or a massive weight gain but regardless you're not the same person you were when the marriage commitment was made.
There are many other reasons to divorce; the list above is in no way a complete list of causes. Understanding that marriage is a flowing ecosystem that has times of perfect calm and treacherous storms will help make sense of divorce. Everything seems fine one day but the next day the commitment to the marriage is gone. The resulting process of divorce may or may not be your fault but regardless of the reason unless you have a plan of action and a ton of patience divorce is a likely possibility.
