Skin allergies – how to deal with them

Allergies appear quite often today. This is the results of all the products we use, as most of them are synthetic and sometimes react badly with our bodies. As the skin is our body's biggest organ, it is also the most exposed one to such negative effects of the outer world.

What allergies are is pretty simple – they are simply your body's reaction to certain substances. Allergy on the skin is no different – it is just mainly concerning the skin. Usually the symptoms are red skin, little red spots, swelling, rashes or even little bubbles with water. Skin allergies are mostly caused by direct contact with other materials, substances, tissues and even people. Such reactions could also be provoked by the sun, the water, the air and the food you eat – it all depends on your organism's adaption skills.

When you see the above mentioned symptoms, it is best not touch the affected area, even more with dirty hands. The only thing you should do in case of an allergy on the skin is to try to soothe your skin with baby powder or cream. It is good if the product is for babies, as it would perfect for sensitive and irritated skin. Then, you should definitely go see the doctor. The allergist would run some tests and give you medication to prevent further complications of the allergy on the skin. Until the results are ready, you should avoid having contact with anything you touched and used before you had the allergic attack. You should change the detergent, if it is new, with one that you have used before; you should change the body creams and the washing and cosmetic products you are using, so as not to irritate your skin further. After that, it is also advisable to wash all your clothes and towels that you have recently used, so that you do not spread the allergy. For the best results – wash them in hot water several times so that you prevent any health problems.

Once you have done all that, you could just wait for the allergy on the skin to cure itself. The doctor might have prescribed some creams and medicine for you to use, so do not forget them. You should also change your eating habits at least for a while. It is possible that the allergic reaction is only temporarily and it is not to a certain food or substance. It could be caused by eating too much chocolate, eggs or any other food. Too much of anything is not good. Therefore, it is good for you to stop eating these products so often. And if your allergy is to your beloved pet, do not worry – you could still see it, but probably not so often and for so long. What you could do is give it in a hotel or to someone to take care of it for some time and then try again – your body may learn how to adapt to the pet, or whatever the allergen.

Remember that allergy on the skin is not so severe at first, but it could easily complicate further. So do not take things in your hands – instead you should go to a specialist.
