    Setting Up the Food Processor

    • 1). Place the bowl on the on the base of the food processor.

    • 2). Grasp the handle on and turn the bowl to lock it in place. You will hear a click when the bowl locks into place.

    • 3). Fit a blade or slicing disc onto the motor shaft, pushing it down as far as it will go. The blades drop right onto the motor shaft as is, but you must first attach the detachable stem to the discs.

    • 4). If you are using a blade, add food.

    • 5). Place a cover on top of the bowl. Depending on the food you are preparing, select either the compact cover or the cover with the feed tube.

    • 6). Turn the cover to lock it in place. You will hear a click when the cover locks into place.

    Removing Food From the Food Processor

    • 1). Wait for the blade or disc to stop spinning.

    • 2). Remove the cover from the food processor.

    • 3). Remove the bowl from the base of the food processor.

    • 4). Remove the blade or disc from the food processor.

    • 5). Remove the food.

    Chopping, Mixing, or Puréeing Food

    • 1). Cut food into 1-inch pieces.

    • 2). Set up the food processor with the metal blade.

    • 3). Chop the food using on/off pulses until it is coarsely chopped. To use the on/off pulse technique, press the pulse lever and hold it down for one second, release the lever, wait one second and then press the lever again, repeating this press/release sequence until the food is coarsely chopped.

    • 4). Press the pulse lever again and let the food processor run until the food is chopped, mixed or puréed to the degree specified in the recipe.

    Slicing or Shredding Food

    • 1). Cut food into pieces that will fit into the feed tube.

    • 2). Set up the food processor with a disc.

    • 3). Pack food into the feed tube. Put enough food in so it stands up straight, but is not so tight that you cannot push the food into the processor.

    • 4). Turn food processor on.

    • 5). Push food through the feed tube using the food pusher. Use light pressure for soft foods and medium to firm pressure for other foods, depending on their hardness.

    Kneading Yeast Dough

    • 1). Put a blade into the food processor bowl. If your recipe calls for more than 3-1/2 cups of flour, use the plastic dough blade. If your recipe calls for less than 3-1/2 cups of flour, use the metal blade.

    • 2). Add flour, other dry ingredients, and fats to the bowl. Run the food processor for about 20 seconds to combine them evenly.

    • 3). Add liquid through the cover opening in a slow, steady stream while the processor is running.

    • 4). Continue running the processor for 60 seconds after the dough begins to clean the sides of the bow and forms a ball.
