- 1). Call a trained technician to supervise you unless you have experience performing this type of task.
- 2). Place the riveting tool over the chain pin, positioning the rivet tip over the hollow end of the chain pin and the anvil of the riveting tool over the solid end of the chain pin.
- 3). Tighten the alignment bolt against the chain's side plate.
- 4). Using your 14mm wrench, tighten the push bolt. Keep tightening until the tip of the rivet spreads the chain pin's hollow end and the chain pin is flared over the side plate, which will hold the side plate securely in place.
- 5). Repeat steps one through three on the other chain pin.
- 6). Check to make sure both chain pins have flares of the same size. Also, the side plate that has been riveted on should be aligned with the side plates on adjoining chain links.
