- Lava lamps can become extremely hot to the touch and therefore must be kept in clutter-free spaces. Paper can be easily ignited by the heat of some lava lamps and could pose a serious danger.
- Lava lamps should never be placed on the stove or heated by any other means other than the intended way, with appropriate-wattage bulb. Misuse can result in fatal injury upon explosion.
