- To make palm fronds, fold some white legal-size paper in half and have the children draw palm leaves on it. Color the fronds using green crayon. To give palm fronds an interesting look, let the children color their papers over a textured surface. Cut out the leaves with safety scissors like Fiskars. As you work together, tell the kids about scripture and what it means. Lead your children in a parade around the classroom singing "Hosanna!"
- Tissue paper is a flexible medium you can use to make all sorts of creations. For this craft you will need large sheets of construction paper, different colors of tissue paper, scissors and white glue. Give every child a sheet of construction paper to use as a background. Have each child draw and cut out one to three crosses from a different color of construction paper and place them in the center of the picture. Then either precut some squares of tissue or allow children to cut their own. Have them glue several squares in the sky of the picture. This will give children a pretty mosaic type of effect in their picture. Then glue on the crosses. With markers, kids could write "Hosanna" in the crosses or somewhere on their paper.
- Coffee-filter flowers are perfect creations to celebrate Easter or to make a simple hosanna craft. You'll need two or three coffee filters per child, bamboo skewers, tape, food coloring and green construction paper. In separate small bowls, add some water and a few drops of different food coloring. Give the kids paint brushes to dip into the bowls and paint their coffee filters. The filters shouldn't become too saturated and may need to lay flat to dry for a few minutes before continuing. While filters are drying, make leaves from green construction paper. Color your bamboo skewers with markers. Fold up the coffee filters into four sections and cut around the edges to make flower petals. Tape the flowers and leaves to the skewers.
