- 1). Measure the diameter of the front side of the compressor wheel (referred to as the "inducer" side), located on the "cold" side of the turbo (the side where air is sucked into the unit). Record the measurement in millimeters.
- 2). Measure the diameter of the backside of the compressor wheel (referred to as the "exducer" side).
- 3). Square the measurement for the inducer side of the compressor.
- 4). Square the measurement for the exducer side of the compressor.
- 5). Divide the squared number you obtained for the inducer side of the compressor wheel by the squared number you obtained for the exducer side of the wheel.
- 6). Multiply the result of your division by 100. The final number is the "trim" of your turbocharger.
