Location

• Somers is located about half an hour north of Hartford, with most visitors arriving into the Bradley International Airport there. Hundreds of hotel choices lie within the Hartford metropolitan area, but visitors to Somers don't need to stay that far away. • The modern day town of Somers was officially incorporated in 1734, but initially was part of Enfield, about six miles away. The two communities still retain strong ties to one another, with visitors to Somers often booking hotels in Enfield from recognizable names in the lodging industry. Economy choices include the Red Roof Inn and the Super 8 near the Windsor Locks Airport. Mid-range properties are available, with a Hampton Inn on Phoenix Avenue and a Holiday Inn just off Interstate 91. East Windsor

• Hotels in the community of East Windsor are about eight miles from Somers, and allow guests the convenience of being only six miles from the Bradley International Airport in Hartford. The Clarion Inn provides a 24-hour complimentary shuttle to and from the airport, as well as free breakfast and a business center. Springfield, Mass.

• The city of Springfield is across the state border in Massachusetts, but still only 10 miles from Somers. As a larger metropolitan area, the choices for lodging here broaden to include more upscale name like the Sheraton Monarch Place, with its own athletic club, tanning bed and nail salon, as well as a connectivity hub in the lobby that is in partnership with Microsoft. The Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield is actually located right on the grounds of the Basketball Hall of Fame and is attached to a popular eating spot, the Uno Chicago Grill. Suites are available at this property, but even the smaller guest rooms come equipped with a refrigerator and microwave.
